The Legacy Award

ARKLA is awarded annually, in honor of Alice and Robert Kikkawa. Alice and Robert were founding members of the Pasadena Bruins, and they were monumental figures in the Japanese-American community in Los Angeles. Through their words and their actions, they valued academic excellence, commitment to one’s community, generosity, and dedication to the Pasadena Bruins. This award will honor the life of Alice and Robert by being awarded to candidates who exemplify these values.

ARKLA will award a total of $750 to each of 2 eligible candidates.

There are two requirements that selected applications must complete in order to receive the fiscal component of the award.

1. Selected candidates must charitably donate $250 to a community organization of their choosing.

2. Selected candidates must commit to volunteering a certain number of hours (based on grade level) to the Pasadena Bruins organization or any other organization of your choice that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as LTSC, PJCI, or others, in order to receive the remaining amount of the award.
